about
Kairi is a character from the video game series, Kingdom Hearts.
personality
Kairi is an optimistic, charismatic young lady who makes friends wherever she goes. She makes fast friends with the kids in Twilight Town, as well as forms a friendship with her partner in training, Lea. She tends to look on the bright side of things, her upbeat attitude helping to encourage the people around her. There is a sassy streak in Kairi, along with a dash of mischievousness. Kairi often says little things to poke fun at her friends, though meant in a good-natured way. For example, when she finds Sora asleep on the beach, she teases him and calls him a "lazy bum". The habit seems to have stuck with her throughout the other games, as she tells Riku that Sora is completely hopeless without them to help. She can be a bit reckless, especially when it comes to her friends. She has no fear of throwing herself into battle, if it will help others and has no problem with standing up against those stronger than she is.
Throughout the series, Kairi has matured quite a bit. She has endured many hardships, from losing her home, having her heart separated from her body, to being left waiting at home for well over a year without knowing if the people closest to her were alive and well, not to mention training and fighting in a war against the forces of darkness and witnessing her friends get hurt first hand. Kairi's personality went through a bit of a shift, causing her to go from the bright, bubbly girl that she was at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts, unaware of the worlds outside of her own, to someone more subdued and thoughtful about the worlds around her. Where she blindly agreed to wait for Sora at the end of the first game, by Kingdom Hearts II, she realizes that simply waiting isn't enough. The initial naivety we encounter when first meeting Kairi is gone and what we are left with is a well rounded young woman. And by the time the third game comes, she's taken her own destiny into her hands and decided to undergo training to become a proper keyblade wielder and face the battles ahead without fear, fighting with her friends in a difficult war. Even so, she still does know how to laugh and have fun when the time is right. She cares about other people and tries to help however she can, no matter if they are her friends, a stranger, or former enemies.
